The event started with Toastmaster Kishore along with Arjun giving the welcome speech and introducing the speakers and guiding the attendees throughout the event making sure everything is presented systematically.
Mr. Vipul Jain, our first speaker spoke on the topic ‘Understanding different types of Marketing and choosing the right type for your business’. He is the Co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer of BidsTalk, a mobile app advertising company which got acquired by another mobile app advertising platform AppLift in 2015. Vipul has more than 12 years of experience in digital marketing having worked for Picsquare, IBM and Mahindra Retail before starting BidsTalk.
Vipul shared his insights on how to start with marketing for any business with bare minimum cost.
He explained various types of marketing and shared his knowledge on how to select the right fit based on various parameters such as the kind of business, target audience, the geographical location with the ecosystem of the business.
He talked about the different kinds of marketing such as relationship, digital, niche, word of mouth, seasonal, event based, content, loyalty etc.,
Ms. Shalini Singh, came next to speak on the topic ‘Importance of PR for Startups’. She is the founder of Galvanise PR, and a PR (Public Relations) expert. She guided us through the PR journey and spoke about what PR is all about and explained how it fits as a subset of marketing and how to take a company along the path of PR.
She describes PR as an art of Storytelling. PR can be used as a tool to reach customers and the best person to do the PR is the founder. His communication skills and art of storytelling has the highest priority in PR campaigns.
She suggests PR should be used only for customers and not for the investors. PR for any company is required only after 9 months of the launch. She ended the speech with a wonderful quote “PR Kiya to Darna Kya”.
Next, we had group discussions on ‘Case studies of marketing and PR’. This session helped the Startups to understand various practical problems faced by them in marketing and PR and possible solutions to overcome them.
